Where to look in the Bible

The Bible is a book which tells of the experiences of real people and of how God dealt with them. The deepest needs of the human heart and the most profound longings of the human soul are brought to us in the Treasure House of the Bible. This leaflet tells you where you can turn to find messages to meet your needs as you face the challenges, problems and joys of life.

Where to look in the Gospels

Whenever you find yourself in a situation difficult to cope with, get some extra help!

The following are common examples of life experiences and what Jesus had to say about them. We suggest that you:

• First, select a passage that may be relevant to your situation;
• Second, pray  ask Jesus to help you to understand the message that each reading contains;
• Read the passage that you have chosen;
• Pray about your problem can you see yourself in the passage you have read?
• Re-read the passage, drawing strength from its teaching;
• Finally, if you feel able to discuss your feelings and the passage you have read talk to a Christian friend.

Our prayer is that your reading will help you in both your prayer life and in regular reading of the Scriptures. There are lots of reading plans available to help you read God's Word in an organised way.

Contact your national Bible Society for details.

We trust that God will bless you and that you will find the help you seek!
