United Bible Societies is a fellowship of 145 national Bible Societies
working to place God's Word in the hearts and
minds of the people they serve across 200 countries and territories.

Translation
Translation is at the heart of Bible Society work. There are an estimated
6,900 languages in the world : the complete Bible is available in just
471.

on the number of languages in which the complete Bible, or New Testament
or a single book of the Bible,
is available.
In West
Papua, Indonesia, the Kimyal New Testament was launched in 2010. Click

Distribution
Bible
Societies worldwide make Scriptures available through direct sales,
subsidized
and free distribution programmes in schools, prisons, hospitals etc. Each
year the UBS provide details of the numbers distributed - see the UBS
Distribution Report.

Programme
Programmes
include literacy initiatives, projects supporting women suffering from
domestic violence, storytelling, training courses, HIV/AIDS programmes,
Braille Scriptures...
The National Bible Society of Ireland supports over 30 different projects
each year.

Fundraising
Bible Societies
rely on financial support to fulfill their mission. Corporate, church and
individual donations ensure projects can be undertaken.
